The FBI Identity History Summary —known as the FBI background check— is the federal criminal history record of the United States. The FBI issues it from your fingerprints.
Authorities that ask for a U.S. criminal record expect it with the Hague Convention apostille, which for federal documents is issued only by the U.S. Department of State in Washington, D.C.; for a Colombian visa, also with an official Spanish translation.
LiveScan fingerprints at our Bogotá office, submitted electronically: the report is usually ready in 1–2 business days. We ask for your valid U.S. passport or Green Card and, if the apostille is for a specific country, which one.
Your prints are rolled on an FD-258 card at our Bogotá office and the card goes to the FBI by mail from our Miami office: it takes longer than LiveScan, but the document is the same. We ask for your valid passport.

No. The apostille for federal FBI documents is issued only by the U.S. Department of State in Washington, D.C. We coordinate that step for you.
Yes, when Colombia’s visa authority (Cancillería) asks for a criminal record from the country where you lived: Resolución 5477 of 2022 expressly requires it for several visas, apostilled and with an official Spanish translation.
Standard delivery is digital, as an apostilled PDF. Sending the original by international courier is quoted separately depending on the destination country.
The request has to be filed again with new prints. With LiveScan, the new capture is free with the FBI’s rejection letter; with an FD-258 card, the resubmission fee is 50% of the no-apostille package, or 78 USD with apostille.
