Terms and conditions

The rules that apply when you hire us: prices, timelines, cancellations and refunds, and what happens if something goes wrong. Written to be read straight through, with no fine print.

Effective from October 14, 2026

In short

Prices in USD, in writing: the ones on the service page, in the shop or in your proposal.

Free cancellation before we start: we refund 100%. Once started, there is no refund.

If the failure is ours: we refund the full amount.

If something goes wrong: write to us first; if we can’t resolve it, arbitration in Miami.

Who we are and what these terms cover

Compliance Officers is the trade name under which Riveros International Business Corp, a Florida corporation (United States), provides its services. In these terms, “we” means that company and “you” means the person or company that hires us.

These terms apply to everything you hire us for: what you pay for in this site’s shop and what you accept in a written proposal, by email or on WhatsApp. By paying or accepting a proposal, you accept these terms. If your proposal says something different, the proposal prevails.

What we do and what we don't

We are a private consulting firm. We prepare, review and file your requests with the relevant authority, and deliver the result to you.

  • We are not the FBI or part of the U.S. Government. We file FBI requests through an FBI-approved channeler, a third party that is not part of the firm, or on the FD-258 card. The apostille is issued by the U.S. Department of State.
  • We are not a law firm. We do not give legal or immigration advice in the United States, and we do not represent you before a court or an immigration authority.
  • What the authority decides is not up to us: what your FBI report says, whether a license is approved, the answer to a FOIA request or what a public record shows.
  • Our reports reflect the sources checked on their date: a due diligence or an OFAC screening cannot see what is not published or what changes afterwards.
  • Requirements are set by whoever receives the document. We tell you what is usually required, but please confirm with whoever asks for it whether you need an apostille, a translation or anything else.

Prices and payment

  • Prices are in U.S. dollars (USD): the ones shown on each service page and in the shop or, for services quoted by proposal, the ones in your written proposal.
  • Anything a package does not include is stated on its page. For example, international courier is quoted by destination.
  • In the shop you can pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. The payment is processed by the payment gateway: we never see or store your card number. Wire transfer or Zelle on request.
  • We issue an invoice with every payment.
  • Any currency-exchange or international-transfer fees charged by your bank are at your expense.
  • We start work once we receive payment, unless your proposal says otherwise.

Timelines

The timelines we publish are estimates. They start once we have your complete documents, and we confirm the estimated date in writing before you pay.

They depend mainly on the authorities (the FBI, the Department of State, the FDLE or the agency handling a FOIA request) and on couriers, which can take longer than usual. A delay by an authority or a courier does not entitle you to a refund, but we keep you informed and follow your case through to the end.

What we need from you

For your case to go through on time, we ask you to:

  • give us true and complete information, matching your passport letter by letter;
  • send us the documents the authority requires, on time and legible;
  • with the FD-258 card, follow the fingerprinting instructions and send us the original card;
  • answer our questions about your case: if something is missing, your case is on hold until it arrives;
  • check the result when you receive it and tell us as soon as possible if you see a mistake.

If information you gave us is wrong or a document is not valid, and the authority rejects the request because of it, a new filing is quoted separately.

If the FBI rejects the fingerprints

We review every set of prints before filing, but accepting them is the FBI’s decision. If the FBI rejects them:

  • With LiveScan, a retake is free with the FBI’s rejection letter.
  • With the FD-258 card, the request has to be filed again with a new card. The resubmission costs 50% of the no-apostille package or 78 USD with apostille, and shipping the new card is at your expense.

Shipping and physical documents

  • Standard delivery is digital: the report as a PDF, apostilled if your package includes it.
  • The original by tracked courier is quoted separately by destination, as is the courier for the FD-258 kit when we send it to you by courier.
  • From abroad, sending your original card to Miami is at your expense.
  • Once a shipment is with the courier, its timing and custody depend on the courier company. If it is lost, we help you file the claim.

Cancellations and refunds

Before we start, you can cancel and we refund 100% of what you paid. Your service starts as soon as the first of these happens:

  • we take your fingerprints, by LiveScan or on a card;
  • we send you the FD-258 kit, by courier or by email;
  • we file your request with the authority (the FBI, the Department of State, FinCEN, the DBPR or the relevant agency);
  • we start the investigation or report you hired.

Once started, there is no refund, not even a partial one, because the government fees and the work are already under way. What your report says, an authority’s decision, a delay by an authority or a courier, or a different requirement at the destination are not grounds for a refund.

If the failure is ours and we cannot provide the service you hired, we refund the full amount.

How to ask: email us at info@complianceofficers.org with the subject “Cancellation” and your order number. We refund through the same method you paid with, within 10 business days; how long it takes to show in your account depends on your bank.

If you have a problem with a payment, please write to us before disputing it with your bank: we reply within one business day.

How far our liability goes

We are responsible for doing our work properly. If we fail, our total liability for that service is limited to the amount you paid us for it.

We are not liable for:

  • the decisions, criteria or delays of the FBI, the Department of State or other authorities;
  • the loss or delay of a shipment once it is with the courier, beyond what the courier company covers;
  • errors caused by wrong or incomplete information or documents you gave us;
  • indirect losses, such as a trip, a consular appointment, an immigration deadline or a job opportunity lost because of a delay.

These limits do not apply where the law does not allow liability to be limited, such as in cases of fraud or gross negligence.

Your personal data

How we handle your personal data, including your fingerprints and identity documents, is explained in our privacy policy.

Governing law and arbitration

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida and by the applicable federal laws of the United States.

  • First, write to us. If you have a complaint, send it in writing to info@complianceofficers.org. We have 30 days to try to resolve it in good faith.
  • If it is not resolved, arbitration. Any dispute about these terms or our services is resolved by binding arbitration seated in Miami, Florida, before a sole arbitrator, under the Revised Florida Arbitration Code (Chapter 682, Florida Statutes) and, where applicable, the Federal Arbitration Act. If we cannot agree on the arbitrator within 30 days, a court in Miami-Dade County appoints one. The arbitration may be conducted in English or Spanish, and by videoconference.
  • Small claims. Either party may bring a small claim before the courts of Miami-Dade County instead of going to arbitration.
  • Individual claims only. Claims are brought individually, not as class or collective actions.
  • Costs. Each party pays its own lawyers, and the arbitrator’s fees are split equally, unless the arbitrator decides otherwise.

The award is final and may be enforced in any competent court.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The new version is published here with its date and applies to what you hire from then on: an order or proposal you already accepted keeps the version in force when you accepted it. This version is effective from October 14, 2026.

If any part of these terms is found invalid, the rest remains in force.
